Rick Welch, President and CEO

Mr. Welch is a seasoned travel industry professional, having more than two decades of experience managing the operations and new sales initiatives with travel companies such as Cendant, Alamo Rental Car, Travelocity, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, and Certified Vacations. He joined Rent A Toll as President and COO in 2006, and was promoted to CEO in 2007. The diversity of knowledge Mr. Welch acquired from the varied sectors of the travel industry has given him a unique perspective on how travel and transportation are sold and marketed, travelers’ behaviors, industry trends, and operational best practices that are transferable between sectors. A key focus for Mr. Welch is process design and redesign, which, coupled with his many years in the travel and transportation industry, has afforded him opportunities to be a catalyst for change within the industry. Mr. Welch attended the University of Bridgeport, where he majored in mechanical engineering and minored in business. He studied management and marketing at Lyndon State College and continued his education at the University of Utah, where he studied marketing and economics.

James K. Glasheen, Vice President Sales & Marketing

Mr. Glasheen has over 25 years in the travel industry with an extensive background in sales management, supplier relations, product development, marketing, and corporate travel. Before joining Rent A Toll in October 2006, Mr. Glasheen worked with Cendant Travel Distribution Services Division, where he served as Director of Airline Supplier Services at Orbitz.com and ChepTickets.com and provided cost-effective distribution solutions for both online and global distribution systems. He also held senior management positions with Resort Condominiums International Travel and US Airways. Mr. Glasheen graduated from the State University College at Oneonta, NY with a BA in psychology. Mr. Glasheen also completed advanced studies in Executive Management at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Management and Center for Creative Leadership, in Colorado Springs, CO focusing on sales management, change management, and executive leadership.

Sarath Balachandran, Vice President of Information Service and Technology

Sarath Balachandran joined RTL as an independent technology advisor in 2004 and became director of technology in 2005. He is responsible for the company’s product development, product architecture, product implementation, and intellectual property. His areas of specialization include digital rights management, business and system interoperability, business process improvement, and program management. He has over 13 years of experience in building software applications, networking and security, infrastructure development, and release management. He has built various custom IT solutions for diverse businesses such as textile engineering, computer-based training, telecom (Verizon), invoicing and billing systems (Sun), publishing (Xerox, McGraw-Hill), technology (Sun Microsystems, Netscape) entertainment and construction. His BS and MS degrees are in computer science from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
